Once you have reprogrammed your mind to not think about smoking, all you have to do is get through them first two or three days while the nicotine is still in your system. The first thing you need to do is plan an ideal day to quit, and stay firm to this date. While this meant I had to have a quiet weekend, I was able to be alone and away from all the distractions associated to smoking.

You should spend as much time trying to relax as possible. Personally I found a hot bath and a long quiet walk (preferably away from shopping centres, or anywhere else you are going get tempted to smoke) and some light hearted movies were the best way to relax. I found it hard to read, because my focus was not as good as usual, so movies or TV seemed to be the easiest options.

For the first two or three days you may have a craving for something sweet, this is natural as the nicotine exits your body. The best way to deal with this without putting on weight is to keep a bottle of fruit juice near by. Every time you feel the cravings come, have a sip of juice. Fruit juice will also help flush out the nicotine much quicker.

Like I said, using hypnotherapy to stop smoking will help you deal with the long term mental associations and psychological aspects of smoking, you just have to put up with those first two or three days.
